As part of the project “Recovery of Ecosystem Services in the Province of San Marcos”, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Cajamarca is implementing a forest nursery in the hamlet of Patiñico, Pedro Gálvez district, with the aim of producing 415,000 seedlings that will allow the reforestation of approximately 270 hectares through direct planting and silvopastoral systems. The Regional Government of Cajamarca promotes the strengthening of the forestry component, which aims to recover soils, improve water infiltration, and protect ecosystems through selected plantations. The forestry component is key to ensuring the success of the qochas and the availability of water throughout the year. Trees help retain moisture, reduce erosion, improve groundwater recharge, and create more resilient productive landscapes.
