The Agro Rural program in Peru will provide S/ 653,210 for the sowing of Avena INIA, a food supplement for various livestock, to 830 family farmers in the Cajamarca region. The program has purchased 110 tons of INIA Avena seed and aims to improve local livestock production by improving the fodder floor, increasing milk and meat productivity, and reducing vulnerability to low temperatures and droughts. The program plans to use 830 agricultural hectares, which could yield 33,200 tons of INIA Oats for feeding cattle during forage scarcity. The identifying and training of farmers will occur in August and September, with sowing starting in October and the first harvest expected in April 2023.
