Korean dairy products export performance has halved in the past three years due to a decrease in domestic milk consumption and increased imported dairy products, particularly in China and Vietnam. In response, Korean dairy companies have targeted Cambodia, which has seen a rise in purchasing power, leading to nearly tripled imports of Korean dairy products from 2020 to 2023. Despite this, the export volume of Korean dairy products has fallen by half from 20,548 tons in 2020 to 10,811 tons in 2023. Stakeholders are now calling for new growth engines, including diversifying export channels and developing products tailored to local consumer needs, as the industry faces challenges in China, its largest export market.
