The Executive Management Committee of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Gecex-Camex) approved the maintenance of the 10.8% tariff applied on natural rubber imported from outside Mercosur, according to the minutes of the board meeting held on Wednesday, 27. By the decision, the import rate on natural rubber or granulated and pressed remains elevated from 3.6% to 10.8% for 24 months. The request for maintaining the tariff at a high level was presented to the board by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA). Producers and processors of rubber asked the federal government to maintain the 10.8% tariff at the beginning of this month in a meeting of the Brazilian Association of Rubber Producers and Processors (Abrabor) and the Cooperative of Rubber Growers of Guaraçaí with the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Favaro.
