The price of meat frog has surged by over 20,000 VND/kg due to a decrease in supply, with many farmers reducing frog farming after significant losses in 2020. The limited supply of wild frogs and high demand for farmed frogs have further increased the price. Currently, the cost is around 40,000-45,000 VND/kg for frogs with 3-5 heads. This surge in price is concerning for farmers as they face rising costs for industrial feed and other inputs, and climate change and adverse weather conditions are increasing wastage rates and quality issues in seed sources. Profitability for farmers depends on the price of meat frogs remaining above 30,000 VND/kg.
