The Canadian government has approved market access for Indian bananas and baby corn, paving the way for exports from India to Canada. The approval is expected to be beneficial for Indian farmers and increase India's agricultural export earnings. Last year, India exported bananas worth over Rs 616 crore, primarily to Iran, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. India is the world's leading producer of bananas, with Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh being the major contributors to the country's banana production.
