Prices for carioca beans continued to be pressured in the last week of May, while black beans remained stable during the period. According to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), this movement occurs in the face of more active buyers. However, devaluation was general in May, for both carioca and black beans. Cepea researchers emphasize that, in the case of the black bean variety, the downward movement was verified for the eighth consecutive month. Thus, the downward pressure has been felt since October/24, when the research center began publishing bean prices. Researchers from the institute indicate that there was even greater demand for higher-quality products. Even so, quotations declined in all surveyed regions, pressured by loss of quality.
