Vietnam's cashew exports have seen a significant decrease both in volume and value after nine months, due to a sharp drop in the export price of raw cashew nuts from producing countries in Africa. The average export price of Vietnam's cashew nuts has also decreased compared to the previous year. The export turnover of cashew nuts has fallen by 14% and the value by 14%, with the industry being affected by armed conflict, economic recession, and high inflation. Despite these challenges, the Import-Export Department recommends Vietnamese cashew businesses to exploit the advantages of new-generation Free Trade Agreements to boost exports to the European Union and China. The industry may have a difficult time reaching the export figure of 3.2 billion USD due to declining demand in the US and EU, which are the main export markets for Vietnam. However, the reduction of tariffs on cashew nut products imported into the EU from Vietnam under the EVFTA is expected to bring great opportunities for the industry.
