White caviar overtakes red caviar in Russian export supplies

In the period from 2016 to 2020, the volume of Russian caviar exports almost doubled (+ 96.7%) to 1,212.9 tons. According to forecasts, while maintaining volumes at the level of last year, the main export subcategory by the end of 2021 will be white caviar, which will outstrip red caviar in terms of supply due to a wide flavor and price range. In 2020, the supply of Russian caviar for export increased in comparison with 2019 by 12% to 1 213 tons. “The positive dynamics is explained by the increase in export deliveries of white caviar: by the end of 2020, it increased by 25% to 663 tons. This year, this type of caviar will retain its leading positions in Russian exports due to a wide price and flavor range, as well as new opportunities for application outside the food sector, ”explains Andrey Dalnov, head of the Center for Industry Expertise of the Russian Agricultural Bank.
