The fourth EU report on trade agreements shows a 3.4% growth in trade with the first 65 partners in the year before Covid-19, with significant increases in trade with Canada and Japan. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (Ceta) and the Japan-Eu Free Trade Agreement (Jefta) have particularly boosted European and Italian agri-food exports. The EU Commission has published the report, highlighting the agreements as facilitating fair and sustainable trade. The agri-food balance with Japan has become the second largest export market in the Union after Switzerland, with increases in pork, cheese, and wine exports. The EU Commission is taking steps to help all businesses benefit from trade agreements and has launched the new access2markets website to assist companies in understanding trade flows and requirements.
