Russian cheese production has experienced remarkable growth, with an average annual increase of 11% and a 16% surge in the past year alone, reaching 792 thousand tons. The industry has seen a significant influx of investment, exceeding 101 billion rubles since 2012, especially after 2014 when Western suppliers exited the market. Belarus dominates cheese imports to Russia, contributing 85% of the total. With domestic consumption on the rise and the potential for export markets, the industry's future looks promising. Experts anticipate that by 2030, cheese production could hit 1.1 million tons, with domestic products gaining a larger market share. Despite this growth, Russia's per capita cheese consumption remains low at 7 kg, compared to the European average of 18 kg, indicating substantial room for market expansion.
