[Korea Farmers' News Agency, reporter Song Hae-chang] On the 23rd, Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong held a shipment ceremony at the Jeonsan Nonghyup Economic Center branch to commemorate the export of Cheongyang persimmons to the United States and China. The county has been purchasing Cheongyang persimmons since early September for export, selecting and packaging the purchased quantities. The export volume planned for this year is approximately 300 tons. Despite extreme high temperatures and record-breaking heavy rains this year, the county provided various supports, including materials and facilities, to secure the export volume. Cheongyang County Mayor Kim Don-gon said, "Cheongyang persimmons are produced in large diurnal temperature variations and excellent soil conditions, resulting in superior sweetness and texture," and added, "In the future, we will devote our efforts to expanding market access and increasing exports."
