France is projected to witness a significant surge in cherry production in 2024, with an estimated 12% increase compared to 2023 and 23% compared to the average harvest from 2019 to 2023, reaching a total of 37,700 tonnes. This growth is primarily observed in the major producing regions: Occitanie (+21%), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+10%), and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (+10%). Despite the production increase, the cultivation areas have seen a slight decrease, with a 2% drop over the past year and a 3% decrease over five years, covering a total of 7,300 hectares as of May 1, 2024.
