China remains the world's largest cherry importer: in 2024, its purchases exceeded 450,000 tons. Access to the Chinese market is not automatic. To export fresh cherries or raspberries, Peru needs approved phytosanitary protocols, a process that can take years. So far in 2025, Peruvian agro-exports have already surpassed US$ 4.2 billion, driven by fresh products such as avocado (US$ 750 million), grapes (US$ 682 million), and blueberries (US$ 235 million), managing to open new markets and, in some cases, surpassing giants like Chile.
