In the 2023-2024 season, global cherry production reached a record high of 4.958 million tons, with Argentina emerging as the second largest exporter in Latin America, following Chile. The country's cherry cultivation, particularly in Patagonia's Santa Cruz province, is renowned for producing high-quality cherries from the royal down, Santina, Lapins, Sweetheart, Regina, Kordia, Nimba, Pacific Red, and Friscos varieties. Argentina's boom in cherry production is mirrored globally, with China becoming the largest importer of cherries, primarily from Chile. Despite a decline in Turkey's production, other countries like the United States, Italy, and Poland have also seen an increase in cherry production, contributing to the global surge in production.
