The price of chicken in Uruguay has been falling since February, with a 10% decrease in March and an estimated 8% decrease in April, according to Federico Stanham, executive director of the Uruguayan Chamber of Poultry Processors (Cupra). This decrease is due to high quality meat production, the second most consumed meat in the country. Poultry slaughter in the first quarter of 2024 was 4.21% higher than the same period last year, totaling 8,504,693 heads.
