Chickpeas produced with ancestral seed support in Gülnar have been harvested.

Within the scope of the local chickpea project launched by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in 2021, it has been reported that a total of 4,860 kilograms of seed support has been provided to 81 producers in 8 neighborhoods of Gülnar to date. The ancestral seeds, which have sprouted with the 2025 distributions, have been harvested. The 'On-Site Dissemination and Marketing of Local Chickpea Varieties' project, initiated by the Directorate of Agricultural Services of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality to increase the production of the nearly forgotten local chickpeas of Gülnar and to pass them on to future generations, has provided a total of 4,860 kilograms of chickpea seeds to 81 producers in 8 neighborhoods of Gülnar district since 2021.
