The Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) published a new edition of its Potato Bulletin, covering the period between January and May 2022, where it was reported that Chile imported a total number of USD 70.98 million CIF of this tuber, which translates into an increase of 32% compared to the same period of 2021. Frozen prepared potatoes were the main product purchased for the Chilean market, representing 82% of the total entered Chile and showing a growth of 32% in the time frame analyzed. In its breakdown, the total volume (kilos) of imported frozen prepared potatoes was equivalent to 63,497,913 kilos, valued at UDS 58,194,334 CIF. Merchandise that was mainly brought from Belgium (40,314,801 kilos), the Netherlands (10,806,488 kilos) and Argentina (7,892,151 kilos), for CIF USD 33,980,741, 10,844,808 and 8,752,730, respectively.
