China accounted for 93% of Chile's cherry exports in January, with purchases reaching $1.4 billion, a 30.8% increase from the previous year. This surge is attributed to the 2017 China-Chile free trade agreement, which eliminates tariffs on over 97% of goods traded between the two countries. Improved logistics efficiency, including the Cherry Express route by COSCO Shipping and advancements in air transportation, have reduced transit times and ensured the freshness of the cherries. The trade also includes other fresh fruits like nectarines, peaches, and apples.
