China has announced a ban on the sale of reconstituted milk, a product made by mixing milk powder with water, effective September 19, 2025, as part of new national food safety standards. These standards aim to protect consumer interests and support the local dairy industry. The ban is part of 50 new standards and nine amendments, all aimed at improving food safety in China. The ban is also in line with regulations in the European Union, Japan, and other countries, which do not recommend dry milk for use in dairy products due to concerns about quality and nutritional value.
