An international network focused on the potato industry has been launched by 11 Belt and Road (BRI) countries, including China and Pakistan, in collaboration with universities, companies, and organizations. Initiated by China's Southwest University, the network aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of the potato industry in BRI countries through academic exchanges, joint research, and technology transfer. The network will also serve as a platform for research in potato breeding, germplasm creation, and utilization, and will establish potato cultivation demonstration bases. The partnership will also provide 100 sets of germplasm rapid diagnostic kits to BRI countries like Pakistan and Kazakhstan, which are currently facing a lack of quality potato seeds.
