China is enhancing its collaboration with the International Center for Crop Science and Technology (CIMMYT) to improve crop breeding and production, with a focus on wheat and corn, particularly with African and South Asian countries. This includes a successful partnership with Pakistan, which has led to the development of two high-yielding wheat varieties that are resistant to yellow rust and are expected to be approved for commercial production in Pakistan by 2025. The collaboration also aims to develop wheat varieties resistant to fusarium wilt through the exchange of technologies and expertise between China and African countries.
