China has authorized 46 Brazilian establishments to export poultry and swine meal, according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture. Four other fish meal establishments were also approved, according to the ministry.
"The authorization marks a concrete advance in the trade relationship with the largest partner of Brazilian agribusiness and opens new opportunities for the animal recycling sector," the ministry said in a statement.
The bilateral sanitary protocol for the export of the products was signed in 2023 by the countries, following on-site audits conducted by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) with the agreement of the sanitary certificate model between the countries.
In the statement, the ministry highlights that Brazil exported $304 million in animal meal to China in 2024.
