China has given the green light for the import of pork and pork by-products from Russia, effective from January 24. This follows the lifting of temporary restrictions related to African swine fever in September 2023, which had been in place since 2008. As a result, Russian pork exports to China could reach 150-200 thousand tons annually, potentially boosting Russia's total pork exports to 400-500 thousand tons per year. Rusagro, Russia's third-largest pork producer, is expected to be a major beneficiary of this move.
