China has lifted its ban on imports of fresh chilled beltfish and frozen Atlantic horse mackerel from Taiwan, following an easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The ban, which was imposed in August 2022 due to the detection of the COVID-19 virus on outer packaging, has now been lifted along with other virus testing requirements for imported cold-chain food products. This comes after China had previously imposed import bans on Taiwanese grouper and over 100 Taiwanese companies selling aquatic products and processed foods, due to concerns over prohibited chemicals and incorrect customs registration information.
