In 2022, China became the second largest seafood import market for Vietnam, contributing over 1.8 billion USD, a 59% increase from 2021. The country saw a surge in seafood imports due to domestic supply interruptions from the 'Zero Covid' policy, with Vietnam's seafood exports to China increasing by 17% in December despite a decline in other markets. Pangasius, Vietnam's largest seafood export to China, brought in over 700 million USD in sales in 2022. Additionally, the relaxation of Covid-19 measures in China is expected to boost demand for cashew nuts due to increased domestic tourism.
