Chinese authorities have released a guide outlining 28 tasks to facilitate rural digitalization by 2024. The guide aims to enhance the use of information technology in agriculture and rural areas, focusing on tasks such as promoting smart agriculture, boosting the digital economy, enhancing digital culture in rural areas, and improving digital governance. By 2024, the guide targets to increase the number of rural broadband users to over 200 million, improve rural internet coverage by two percentage points, and surpass 630,000 million yuan ($88.67 billion) in online retail sales of agricultural products through e-commerce platforms. The guide was collaboratively published by several key government departments.
