In the first quarter of 2025, China's National Bureau of Statistics reported a 2% year-on-year increase in total meat production, reaching 25.40 million tons. Pork production saw a 1.2% increase, with the pig population rising by 2.2% to 417.31 million heads. However, the number of slaughtered pigs remained virtually the same. Poultry production grew the most at 5.1%, while beef production also saw a increase of 2.7%. On the other hand, lamb production decreased by 5.1%.
