Chilean cherries have been flooding the Chinese market in large quantities over the past two weeks, leading to a drop in prices. The quality of the cherries has improved and the loss ratio has decreased. The most common variety is Lapins, followed by Santina, Bing, Kordia and Regina. New packaging methods, including completely closed containers with plastic lids and carbon dioxide injection for better preservation, have been introduced. Despite the initial weak demand due to the sudden increase in volume, the market is stabilizing as the quality of cherries improves and prices become more stable.
