Due to a significant crop failure in Bac Giang, Vietnam, and China, the price of lychees has surged, with the selling price reaching as high as 100,000 VND/kg in 2024. This increase is attributed to the high demand from Chinese traders, who are buying large quantities of the fruit for export. As a result, the total lychee output of Bac Giang is projected to reach 100,000 tons, with 70,000 tons expected to be exported to China. Despite the decrease in the overall production, the quality of the lychees has improved, leading to an anticipated price increase of 10-20% compared to previous years. The first batch of Thanh Ha lychees in 2024 has been exported to Australia, and there are plans to export to other countries like France, Thailand, Singapore, and Canada.
