The Spanish Sweet Association (Produlce) has marked International Chocolate Day by releasing data highlighting the growth and impact of the cocoa and chocolate industry. The industry, which accounts for 27.6% of the value of the wider sweet industry, has shown resilience and innovation, adapting to consumer trends and sustainability demands. Despite a 9.4% annual reduction in foreign turnover due to the pandemic, Europe remains the primary export destination. The industry has also created 6,532 direct jobs, with 63% held by women.
