Jiangjin District in Chongqing has developed prickly ash, also known as Zanthoxylum bungeanum, into a significant agricultural industry, earning the district the title 'Hometown of Chinese Zanthoxylum bungeanum'. The area is renowned for its comprehensive management, planting efficiency, and high unit output of green peppercorns. In 2020, the district was included in the Geographical Indication Agricultural Products Protection Project, leading to advancements in variety promotion, processing capabilities, and technological innovation. The establishment of the Chongqing Jiangjin National Zanthoxylum bungeanum Bio-industry Base and the 'Jiangjin Huajiao Big Data Center' has further boosted the industry's informatization and deep processing of pepper products. The district's prickly ash plantation covers 570,000 mu, with an annual output value of 3.7 billion yuan, accounting for about 25% of the district's total agricultural output value.
