A direct cold-chain train transporting durians from Thailand to Southwest China's Chongqing city has arrived, marking a significant development in agricultural trade between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), particularly Thailand. The journey, which previously took 8-10 days via sea-road routes, now only takes four days via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the China-Laos Railway. This not only reduces transportation costs but also lowers losses, allowing fruit importers to increase efficiency and profitability. The durians, which make up a significant portion of China's durian imports, will be primarily distributed in Chongqing with some continuing to Sichuan, highlighting the growing integration of ASEAN agricultural markets into China's trade network, facilitated by agreements like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and investments in cross-border infrastructure.
