Spain's Ministry of Agriculture has reported a 1% decrease in the initial production of citrus fruits for the 2024/2025 season, totaling 5.842 million tons, which is 8.6% lower than the average of the last five campaigns. This decrease is due to the ongoing drought, excessive heat, and alternate bearing. The production varies by citrus type, with a predicted increase in oranges and a decrease in lemons and small citrus fruits. Oranges are projected to account for 51% of the total production, while small citrus fruits will make up 31.3%. Lemon production is expected to reach 953,661 tonnes, marking a significant decrease from the previous season.
