Earlier this week it was announced that the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency are not giving flax and hemp a full place in the eco-regulation of the new CAP. 'A missed opportunity to give these unique, extra sustainable fiber crops a boost', says deputy director Peter Leendertse of CLM Research and Advice. Research by the company shows that both crops are very sustainable and provide extra storage of CO2 as building material.
