Poland is the third largest carrot producer in the EU, cultivating on approximately 22,000 hectares, which is the second largest area for outdoor vegetable cultivation in the country. In 2020, Poland harvested 733,000 tons of carrots, accounting for a 12% share of the EU's carrot harvest. The majority of carrot cultivation takes place in six voivodships. However, the pandemic has had a significant impact on the demand for vegetables from the hospitality sector, leading to an oversupply and drastic price drop. This has affected various horticulturalists, including carrot, onion, and potato growers.
