A collaboration between Brazil's Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA) and the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae Bahia), represented by João Martins and Jorge Khoury respectively, aims to register the umbu fruit in the European Union (EU). The agreement, signed as part of the Deliberative Council of Sebrae, will see the preparation of a dossier highlighting the fruit's safety and Brazilian origins, with a focus on regions like Curaçá, Uauá, and Canudos in Bahia. This initiative is designed to allow small producers to export umbu and its by-products to the EU, aligning with the safety and regulatory standards set by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). This partnership is part of the larger Agro.BR project, a joint effort by CNA and Apex-Brasil, aimed at internationalizing Brazilian agriculture and boosting the global competitiveness of small and medium-sized producers.
