Peruvian cocoa and its derivatives are a significant part of the country's export supply, with sales exceeding $334 million in 2022 and experiencing a 10% growth compared to the previous year. The Vice Minister of Foreign Trade highlighted that the cocoa industry has provided income generation opportunities for over 90,000 small producers and farming enterprises in Peru. Efforts are being made by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism and other government entities to maximize the potential of the cocoa industry and improve the competitiveness of producer organizations and MSMEs in this sector.
