The President of FIPE-Confcommercio, Lino Enrico Stoppani, has addressed the concerns over the significant increase in coffee prices, with Arabica and Robusta blends surging by over 60% and 90% respectively in the past year. This price hike is attributed to the climate crisis, geopolitical tensions, and increased maritime freight rates. Despite these challenges, Italian public establishments have absorbed most of the cost increases, trying to limit the impact on consumers. FIPE's data shows that bar prices have only risen by 13% over four years, despite an expected inflation rate of +16% during the same period. The Federation also highlighted that price increases in different cities are not as drastic as suggested in the media and emphasized a decrease in the number of companies engaging in bar activities over the past decade.
