Global coffee prices remained stable on March 16, with Robusta and Arabica prices unchanged in the London and New York exchanges. However, the global market experienced fluctuations this week, with Robusta prices increasing and Arabica decreasing. The inventory of Robusta and Arabica certified by ICE is expected to rise, which could put downward pressure on prices.
In Vietnam, the domestic coffee market was also flat, with prices trading around 130,000 - 132,000 VND/kg. The industry faces challenges such as strict pesticide residue standards from the EU but also opportunities to increase value and move towards sustainable production. Vietnam aims to expand specialty coffee production by 2030 and increase export value through deep processing. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented a coffee growing area data system to support product traceability and sustainable development.
