Collaborative network launched to improve information on varieties and quality of Chilean wheat

“The objective of this network is to create shared value between farmers and mills, directing development towards high-quality varieties that benefit the entire production chain,” said INIA Carillanca researcher Javier Zúñiga, at the end of the seminar in which the proposal was presented to some 40 representatives of the sector. The specialist and coordinator of the proposal “Collaborative information network on varieties and quality of bread wheat” added that the instance will contribute to facing the challenges derived from climate change, as well as maintaining the country's food security. Zúñiga presented the advances in research developed by INIA together with the Ministry of Agriculture, in terms of developing “a public good that the wheat sector needs today (…) is information on the quality performance of the wheat varieties grown by our farmers.” He also maintained that collaborative work between the public and private sectors will allow the variety system to be organized, ...
