Colombia is expected to begin exporting beef to the United States within the next two years, according to Deyanira Barrero León, the outgoing manager of the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA). This process involves an audit report, a six-month risk assessment, a public consultation, and a decision on the export conditions. The United States is also conducting a parallel process with Invima, focusing on animal health and foot-and-mouth disease. Meanwhile, Colombia is relocating control posts from interior areas to border regions and implementing pre-shipment verifications for farmers in these areas to ensure compliance with health authority requirements.
