Brazil's sugarcane production for the 2024/25 harvest is expected to decrease by 4.8% to 678.67 million tons due to unfavorable weather conditions and burning of sugarcane fields, despite an increase in the harvest area. The Southeast, the largest producer, is projected to see a 7.4% reduction, while the Center-West and Northeast regions may see slight increases. Total sugar production is expected to decrease by 3.7%, but ethanol production may increase by 1.3%. Despite the domestic production decline, sugar exports have seen a 23% increase, but their value has decreased due to increased supply from other countries. Ethanol exports have fallen by 25.3%.
