The Ministry of Production in Peru has imposed a fishing ban, leading to a surge in prices for mackerel and bonito. Mackerel is now selling for between 4.50 and 7 soles per kilo, up from previous prices, while fresh bonito has seen a significant increase to between 7 and 8 soles per kilo. Squid prices have also risen, selling for over 20 soles. The ban has affected the availability of these seafood items, with mackerel currently only available frozen and bonito still available despite the ban being official for only a week.
