Researchers from the NGO Compassion in World Farming (CiWF) and the food safety organization Sustain confirmed the presence of ammonia contamination hotspots in areas of the United Kingdom with a high concentration of industrial pig and poultry farms. The publication of a detailed map revealed that the most severe emissions are located in Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, and Norfolk, where the density of intensive farms contributes to the accumulation of ammonia in the air.
