Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil is projected to harvest over 11 million tons of safrinha corn, with the cultivation area expected to increase by 5.4% from the previous cycle, covering 2.32 million hectares. The productivity is estimated at 80.33 bags per hectare, and the challenge now lies in improving logistics for transportation and cereal processing. The state is also looking to add more value to the corn, increase consumption, and face logistical challenges due to a super harvest of soybeans, which is expected to increase freight costs. To address these challenges, the state has allocated BRL 1 billion for improving infrastructure and access roads.
