Cotton in Ukraine can be grown in the rain forest - preliminary conclusions of tests in Odesa region

Already in October, Ukraine will have its first cotton harvest. The expected yield should be at the level of 2-3 t/ha. But October will show, say farmers. As reported by Kurkul.com, 8 farms and scientists of the Ukrainian Institute of Plant Varieties Expertise in Odesa Region are participating in trials of growing cotton on demo fields. On August 27, as part of a working trip and evaluation of the results, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine, Minagro and scientists visited these farms to find out whether it will be possible to revive the production of this crop in Ukraine after a gap of 30 years. Currently, this is a priority in our country, because cotton is planned to be used to produce gunpowder necessary for the military industry. And already in the draft budget for 2025, it is planned to allocate funding for subsidies to farmers for this purpose.
