The potato growers' group, Potatoes USA, has reported a decrease in overall sales for 2020 due to the pandemic. Despite a 9% increase in retail sales, it could not make up for the 13% decrease in foodservice use and the 2% decrease in exports. The foodservice potato sales dropped from 58% to 53% after the pandemic began. However, there was a nearly 9% increase in retail sales for frozen and dehydrated potato products, with fresh potato sales also up 9.5%. The largest volume category, potato chips, also saw a sales growth of 5.5%.
