A study conducted by Harper Adams University and the UK's Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) on the potential impacts of the UK's participation in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) reveals that the agreement could provide significant long-term opportunities for the UK's red meat and dairy sectors. The research highlights population growth, economic development, and the expansion of middle-class consumers in Asian and South American markets as key factors contributing to these opportunities. While immediate benefits may be limited, future advantages are expected to emerge, particularly in Asian and South American markets. The inclusion of additional countries like China, Taiwan, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Uruguay in the CPTPP could further boost these opportunities by offering preferential terms and tariff reductions.
