Russian crab producers have successfully redirected their exports to China, South Korea, and Japan after the US market closed, as reported by the Association of Shipowners of the Fishing Fleet (ASRF). The shift has allowed these markets to compensate for two-thirds of the decline in Russian crab exports to the US, with China, South Korea, and Japan increasing their imports by 28% to 7,600 tons in the first three quarters of 2022. Meanwhile, Russian crab production has remained stable, as reported by the Federal Agency for Fishery, with a slight decrease in volume to 90.7 thousand tons as of December 4, 2022, compared to 91.1 thousand tons the previous year. The ASRF is optimistic about future exports to Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries, crediting the industry's stability to the resilience of key market participants and the natural limitations of resource reserves.
